There’s something about heading to IKEA, grabbing some meatballs with lingonberry jam and hiding amongst the furniture that never fails to entertain – no matter your age.

The Swedish-founded furniture store is famous worldwide, known for its flatpack furniture, affordable home furnishings and huge warehouses.

Now, the store is going to be popular with music producers too as IKEA is doing a collaboration with house music group Swedish House Mafia.

The collection aims to “make the everyday life easier for the many people listening to and creating music” and everyone has gone wild over the unlikely collaboration.

House music supergroup Swedish House Mafia has collaborated with IKEA and it’s the best thing we’ve seen all year.

The trio, made up of Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso, are releasing an upcoming 20-piece joint collection with the furniture brand.

It’s titled “OBEGRÄNSAD,” which means “unlimited” in Swedish and features a variety of products including a record player, lounge chair and desk.

According to IKEA, the collection is for “those with a limited budget but unlimited creativity” and aims to “democratise music production at home” whilst enabling “the many to unleash their passions and creativity”.

IKEA has just revealed some of the products in the 20-piece collection, which is all dedicated to music production.

As well as a number of items of furniture, the collection includes three IKEA FRAKTA bags – one for cables, another for a laptop and a third for vinyl records.

The furniture store has provided extra details about two exciting items: A desk with speaker stands and the OBEGRÄNSAD record player.

The desk is described as a “core solution for upcoming music creators” which has two speaker stands and a pull-out shelf for a midi keyboard.

If you’re into vinyls, the record player will certainly be on your wishlist. With a sleek, minimal style, the solid and chunky design “transmits the physicality of music in the collection”.

The collection was first revealed at the IKEA Festival in Milan and is set to arrive at IKEA shops this fall.

“Swedish House Mafia’s OBEGRÄNSAD collection will be launched globally in Fall 2022,” IKEA wrote. However, a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet.

At the time of writing this, it’s unclear whether the collection will launch worldwide or only be available in specific regions.
