A COUPLE who were sick of paying rent have revealed how they bought an old mobile home for £4,000 and now live mortgage-free.

TikTok user Kay, who posts under @kayleigh.t24, uploaded a video showing their budget home.

She wrote: “We bought an old mobile home, because we were overpaying landlord’s dead money!”

At first the mobile home looked rather tatty and in need of a spruce up, with peeling wallpaper and old floors.

Kay added: “And here’s how it is going so far…

“This wall couldn’t be painted over because of damage so we wallpapered it instead.

“No more horrible lino on the wall thanks to mama.”

She showed how they had transformed their kitchen using the £1 stickers and it looked much more stylish.

Kay explained: “These were stickers from the pound shop.

She then added a smart flooring to the home which gave it a much-needed facelift.

In the video caption, Kay said: “Buy a mobile home, just do it!”

Many people were highly impressed with the DIY project, with one saying: “so much hard work gone into it! well done mannn.”

Another added: “it looks great and with rent and house prices I think mobile home parks are going be a thing.”

And a third commented: “me and my partner did the same thing last year, it was the best thing we ever did! enjoy having your own space.”

One person enquired about where they put their mobile home, and asked: “may I ask were you keep it like do you have to buy land to leave it on the premises or do you rent a lot or how does it work?”

Kay replied: “You can do all of the above really! Ours is just on land that family already own, but some people will buy their own land or leave there mobile homes as holiday homes, and rent out an area within these areas for the year for a certain price, but this can usually only be seasonal it all depends!”
