Deadpool Wants Revenge Against One Of His Most Popular Writers

A cameo at the X-Men's Hellfire Gala reveals Deadpool's true feelings about one of his most famous writers. Brian Posehn may need to watch his back.

Some of Deadpool's most gut-wrenching and brutal adventures came under the watchful writing eye of Brian Posehn. Best known as an actor and comedian heavily featured in Mr. Show, The Sarah Silverman Program, and The Big Bang Theory, Posehn also moonlights as a comic book writer. His most famous run as a writer came in 2013 when he began writing for the critically acclaimed Deadpool series alongside Gerry Dugan.

The duo of Posehn and Dugan provided some truly gruesome moments for the Merc with a Mouth, taking full of advantage of his healing factor within an R-rated scope. Most prominently, Deadpool suffered some of his most heartbreaking losses, story-wise. This same run forced Deadpool into countless miserable scenarios, including finding himself as a lab experiment for Weapon X, being forced to kill his parents, and discovering the corpse of the mother of his daughter, with whom he had only recently re-connected. In a span of a two-year run, Posehn and Dugan's run on Deadpool is littered with surprisingly tragic moments like that.

For audiences around the world, these harrowing moments made for an entertaining series, but for Deadpool himself, the heartbreaking experiences were just that: heartbreaking. hat would explain why he seems to have a sore spot at the sight of Brian Posehn in X-Men: Hellfire Gala #1 by Gerry Duggan, Matteo Lolli, and C.F. Villa. Held annually on Krakoa, the Hellfire Gala is a who's-who party event that functions to celebrate mutant culture alongside non-mutants. Much like last year, the Hellfire Gala is a celebrity-laden, cameo-heavy function, as evidenced by Duggan's former writing partner mingling with Spider-Man and Eddie from Iron Maiden as Deadpool side-eyes him in the background.

Thanks to Deadpool's meta-understanding of the world around him, it comes as no surprise that Deadpool knows exactly who Posehn is and exactly how he wrote him. And it's totally understandable that Deadpool wants to enact some sweet revenge on the comedian for how he was written. What may come somewhat as a surprise to some readers is that revenge may actually be a feasible option in Deadpool's future.

After all, if audiences recall Despicable Deadpool #300, written by Gerry Duggan with art from Scott Koblish, Matteo Lolli, and Mike Hawthorne, Duggan inserts himself into the story only for Deadpool to shoot him dead and steal his car. If not even Gerry Duggan could escape the wrath of Deadpool, then Brian Posehn may want to start watching his back.
